Job Transition Book: Knowledge for Navigating the Twin Transitions

11 JULY 2025 |
From the ROAD ecosystem comes the Job Transition Book, a tool designed to help navigate the knowledge, skills, and soft skills required by the digital and sustainable transformation.

On April 16, during SIOS25 ROAD at the Gazometro in Rome, the Job Transition Book (JTB) will be presented: an operational framework created to address a pressing and concrete question – what skills are needed to face the ecological and digital transitions?

The JTB, developed through collaboration between ROAD and the seven corporations involved, offers a universal and flexible structure for building new professional profiles. The model is based on three key elements:

Method

Through a simple and accessible structure, the Job Transition Book maps over 1,000 knowledge points, organized into eight key areas:

Four dedicated to the Ecological Transition:

  • CLIMATE CHANGE – Long-term changes in the Earth’s temperatures and weather patterns, caused by both natural phenomena and human activities.
  • CIRCULAR ECONOMY – An economic model based on reducing, reusing, recycling, and recovering resources, aimed at lowering environmental impact and promoting environmental regeneration.
  • SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY – A set of strategies designed to improve transportation, reduce its negative effects on the environment, health, and society, and promote inclusive and accessible mobility.
  • SMART CITY – Urban environments that use digital technologies and eco-friendly solutions to improve quality of life and well-being in a sustainable and inclusive manner.

Four dedicated to the Digital Transition:

  • ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES – Emerging and advanced technologies that transform how individuals and organizations learn and operate.
  • DATA ANALYTICS – Using data to optimize business experiences and operations, with a focus on sustainability and efficiency.
  • IT INFRASTRUCTURE AND SECURITY – Ensuring the security, integration, and programming needed to build and protect technological infrastructure.
  • INNOVATION MANAGEMENT – Leading projects with a focus on innovation, especially in digital experiences and sustainability.
Application

The JTB enables the creation of professional profiles through three key steps:

  • The universe of KNOWLEDGE: the set of technical, managerial, and organizational know-how, accessible via the 1,000 mapped knowledge points for the twin transitions.
  • The KNOW-HOW: the applicable level of skill required to perform tasks and transfer knowledge within an organization.
  • The SOFT SKILLS: essential behavioral competencies that support transformation processes in the context of sustainability.

The process concludes by assembling the puzzle: aligning knowledge, skills, and soft skills to shape comprehensive professional profiles.

Future Roadmap: next step

The future roadmap envisions the evolution of the project into a permanent laboratory – Change and Transition: a space for ongoing dialogue and updates on emerging knowledge, fostering an innovation culture oriented toward sustainability.
