Tiber ROAD

An event to rethink the role of the Tiber River in Rome, including technical research, a focus on the Ostiense district, and dialogue with institutions.

On October 17, 2025, at the DICITA Conference Hall of Roma Tre University, Tiber ROAD: the navigability of the Tiber and its sustainability will be held, an event promoted by ROAD and Roma Tre University.

The Tiber, once the hub of the capital's economic and social life, is now only navigable to a limited extent. The seminar will be an opportunity to present a new technical study analyzing its current state and future prospects, with the aim of restoring the river to a leading role in the city in terms of sustainable urban mobility. Particular attention will be paid to the Ostiense district, where the relationship between the city and the river takes on strategic importance. The meeting will offer food for thought and concrete solutions to restore the Tiber to a central role in the life of the capital.

The day will open with institutional greetings from ROAD President Claudio Granata, Roma Tre University Rector Massimiliano Fiorucci, DICITA Department Director Stefano Carrese, and President of the Order of Engineers of the Province of Rome Maurizio Cerri.

The seminar will conclude with a round table discussion, attended by the main authorities responsible for discussing the prospects, challenges, and opportunities related to the future of navigability on the Tiber.

An open and informed dialogue that will offer a shared vision of the river's strategic role in the sustainable development of Rome.
